| YWAM Minneapolis Campus Overview |
|
The campus of YWAM Minneapolis is a great place to live, work and study. Originally built as a private residence, it still feels like being in a very nice home. Indoors The main house holds the majority of student housing areas, classrooms, offices, snack bar, and rec areas. Coming into the home's original entry, you step into what we call the "formal living room" . We typically use this area for outreach debriefing meetings, and for visiting with guests. Downstairs is the snack bar area . With leather couches and a big fireplace, this is a great area for hanging out and drinking a Coke. Staff and small groups meet in this area, and we periodically use it for Wednesday afternoon "Staff Tea". The rec-room is where students tend to hang-out during their free time. We have a pool- table, fooseball, a nice poker table and computers with internet access.
Outdoors One of the best things about living in Minnesota is the change of seasons. The Fall: DTS begins just as the leaves begin to turn colors. Its a great time to take a walk around the 240 acres of grasslands and woods. The Winter is also a great time in Minnesota. The cold isn't too bad. We've had students from extremely hot countries such as Mexico and Bahamas, and no one has died yet. On the campus property there is opportunity for sledding, cross-country skiing and ice-skating. Spring highlights at the base include making Maple Syrup. The snow melts in March, and during this time several of us on staff head to the woods and tap the trees. When the sap is flowing, we collect it and bring it into the "sugarhouse" where we boil and boil it until it becomes syrup (40 gallons of sap = 1 gallon of syrup). Summers are wonderful in Minnesota. Its not too hot, so its a good time to be outside. YWAM Mpls has a beautiful pool, and a sport court where you can play Basketball, Tennis or roller Hockey. |
