The world is at your fingertips and the possibilities seem endless. You have a lifetime of opportunities ahead of you. Where do you start? Have you considered taking a gap year, that time between high-school graduation and your first year of college? For many, a gap year is a time when they are able to refocus, explore the world and do something new and adventurous! Meet new people, experience a new culture, grow in character and find your identity. It’s a precious time that you won’t regret. Our DTS provides all those opportunities along with growing your relationship with God!

What exactly is a DTS?

DTS stands for Discipleship Training School. It’s a 5-month program designed to help you deepen your relationship with God and lay a solid foundation for your future with Him and His heart for the world at the center. The first three months of Training are set in a classroom, with the following two months on a cross-cultural travel adventure known as Outreach. You’ll get to know God and make Him known!

BUILDING YOUR HOUSE

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

How are you building your house?

Where are you standing? When you look at your life, what do you see? Are you firmly set upon the Rock, giving your life to something bigger than yourself (God’s plans)? Or are you building on the shifting sand, focused on merely getting by with nothing more than yourself to guide you? Our heart is to help you settle on a solid foundation for your life. Even though there will be storms, you can build on something that doesn’t shift and move. To do this well, you need to set aside some time to focus on gathering the life building materials that God has for you.

Making the decision to do a DTS

Ask God what He has for you and if a DTS could be part of the next thing He wants to do in your life. What do you feel like He is saying? What do you find attractive about a DTS? Obstacles? Remember that He goes before you. He will not leave you alone. And if He calls you to something, He will provide. Because that’s the kind of God He is!
